Welcome to the website of Nimbin, New South Wales based artist Marty de Weerd.

Marty de Weerd is a Nimbin based visual artist and tutor  who specialises in landscapes, seascapes and abstract paintings using acrylic paints. Marty’s work primarily depicts nature in its rawest forms- untouched and wild. Marty was the winner of the Margaret McLaren Prize for Emerging Artists at the 2023 Nimbin Art Fair for his painting “Nightcap”, Highly Commended in the Australian Landscape section at the 2024 Bentley Art Prize for the painting "Below the Falls" and the winner of the People's Choice Award at the 2024 Nimbin School of Arts Spring Exhibition for "The Spirit of Anderson Road".

Commissioned art doesn't have to be expensive. My prices start at AU $100 for a 1 hour acrylic painting on A4 paper. My pricing is based on size, materials and shipping costs meaning I can create something for you no matter what your budget is.

Workshop Two– Clouds

Join us for the second workshop in our Elements of Landscape Painting series. In this session, we’ll focus on painting clouds—learning to capture their soft, ever-changing forms and the light, shadow, and colour that bring them to life.

Learn how to sketch different cloud types (cumulus, cirrus, stratus etc), master blending techniques to create soft, realistic edges and discover how to use colour, light, and shadow to add atmosphere and depth.
